Working with me

How I'd work
with your team.

If you're deciding whether I'm the right person to lead your design system, design team, or digital team, this is the page I'd want to read: how I lead, what my first 90 days look like, and what you can expect from me.

How I lead

  • Fix the system, not the symptom. Most marketing problems are process, tooling, or handoff problems in disguise. I find the root cause and fix it once, instead of patching it every week.
  • Make the team faster, not busier. If a routine request keeps landing on a specialist's desk, it's a candidate for a self-service tool or a template. Designers should spend their time on design.
  • Show results, don't just describe them. I report outcomes with a before, an after, and a number — the same way the case studies on this site are written.
  • Accessibility is the floor, not a feature. Everything the team ships meets WCAG AA at minimum. It's cheaper to build in than to bolt on.
  • High standards, high autonomy. I'm detail-oriented and quality-driven, and I'll ask the uncomfortable question when something doesn't add up. I give my team the same thing I work best with: clear standards and room to meet them their own way.

My first 90 days

  1. Days 1–30

    Listen and map

Meet the team and stakeholders. Map how work actually flows — requests, reviews, handoffs, tools, and budget — and find where time and money leak.

  2. Days 31–60

    Quick wins

Fix the two or three bottlenecks that cost the most — the kind of manual process or request queue I've automated before — and show the result with a number.

  3. Days 61–90

    Systems that last

Turn what worked into documented process, self-service tools, and reporting the team and leadership can run on — without me in the loop for routine work.

What leadership can expect

  • A regular, plain-language read on performance. I present channel performance to senior leadership quarterly today, and I'll match whatever cadence you run.
  • A budget treated like a decision, not an allowance. I own the digital and martech budget now, and I renegotiated our HubSpot contract to save $18K a year while expanding what it could automate.
  • One leader across design, UX, and engineering — the cross-functional team I lead today.
  • Work that's documented, so the team's knowledge doesn't walk out the door with any one person — me included.

What I need to do my best work

I work best where marketing strategy and creative execution are both respected — where there's a real problem to solve, a team worth developing, and enough autonomy to do it well. Mission-driven organizations are a particularly strong fit.

What colleagues say

“Tim is the kind of person you want around when your deadline is two days away and you still have nine hundred items on your to-do list. He’s a talented developer, designer, and strategist who also happens to be one of the hardest working people you’ll ever meet. He’s never one to shy away from a challenge, he’s quick to learn new skills, and he has a knack for finding just the right solution for the task at-hand. Plus—and this is a big, big plus—the dude makes pizzas from scratch. He’s an absolute wonder.”

“Tim was instrumental in so many aspects of this project with offering suggestions to make things work better, to helping with AEM set up and modifications, to providing input for the look and feel of Storefront. Whenever we were in a pinch to fix something in AEM, Tim would jump in to help. Also appreciated his leadership to train resources on AEM.”

“Your leadership and collaboration were critical to our success. You communicated with courage to advocate for best in class and you thought enterprise wide to ensure the larger organization would benefit from the new platform.”

“…you have been such a wonderful partner in helping me to illustrate important data and metrics for our portals. I could not have done it without your help. I really appreciate the time that you have allocated to understand the information that I was seeking and your willingness to contribute your skills to help me bring my vision and the needs of the business to life in such a concise view.”
